Resumo em outra língua: With the advent of technology, structural elements and systems have become increasingly complex and slender. Despite the advantage over cost reduction, thinner structural systems are subject to greater displacement and deformation. Thus, to perform the structural analysis of these structures it is necessary to use sophisticated numerical techniques, which, through numerical models and mathematical formulations, are able to consider all factors that substantially influence the behavior of the structure. In this context, several studies related to numerical models and formulations have been developed in order to reach a more accurate solution that completely represents the behavior of structures. This scenario and the interest in the real structural behavior were essential to motivate the development of this work, which aims to study the methodologies of solving nonlinear equations, more precisely in incremental-iterative techniques. The proposed revision sought to cover all fields of nonlinear problem solving of a finite element-based solver, from varied iterative numerical methods to different strategies for choosing the initial load parameter, which is an important parameter, as it portrays the degree of nonlinearity of the structural system under analysis. This review points in a fundamental direction: the wide range of options provides a greater likelihood that the user will achieve the resolution of the most varied. At the end of the research, we realize the importance of nonlinear analysis in engineering, as well as what underlies this analysis, because the result of structural analysis depends on the correct choice of the method and the strategies that will be adopted for such analysis
