Resumo em outra língua: Introduction: Cervical cancer is a slow-evolving disease with pre-invasive stages that can be detected and treated. It affects many women, increasing their morbidity and social impact. Periodic cytopathological examination of the cervix is still the primary form of screening and early detection of precursor lesions of this cancer. However, screening programs are predominantly opportunistic where only a small part of the population is covered. Objective: To enable the implementation of the call and recall system at the primary health unit (UBS) Padre Faria/Flor de Liz in the municipality of Ouro Preto - MG. Methodology: Initially, a characterization of the female population in the target age range was performed by the UBS Padre Faria / Flor de Liz in the city of Ouro Preto-MG, through an analysis of the database of cytopathological exams in the cytology sector of the Laboratory of Clinical Analyzes (LAPAC). Next, the coverage of the Pap smear was calculated. Previously scheduled interviews were conducted with health professionals to understand the reality of UBS and to understand the logistics of the work performed for the development of the call and recall system based on the active search of the women members of the target population and from the invitation letter and the woman's health card. Thus, the best way to implement the call and recall system in this UBS was identified. Results: The sample of this study was composed of 565 women between 25 and 64 years old who underwent the cytopathological examination in the period from 2014 to 2017. The total number of exams performed at the Padre Faria UBS was 778. The coverage of the Pap smear in this UBS was 35, 31%. Through the interviews with the health agents and the nurse, it was possible to evaluate the assistance provided to women for cervical cancer prevention and control in Primary Health Care in this UBS, noting that it needs improvement, both in physical structure and in educational actions. Conclusion: It was found that 2/3 of the women were not covered by the exam in the period from 2014 to 2017. It can be seen that the community in question needs the implementation of the call and recall system and is expected to increase of the women's adherence to the cytopathological examination.
