Resumo em outra língua: The object of study of the present work is the process of aging within bourgeois society and how a change occurs in the way of conceiving old age from the invention of the "old age" and its own negation. Thus the clipping on this element set out to analyze the "commodification of old age" within a context that values youth, in which there is room for the commodification of products and services for those who do not want to become old; characterizing this stage as the worst phase of life. Capitalist society disregards the fact that aging is biological and inevitable in a continuous course of life so it sells the illusion of eternal youth. Old age in our society is represented in a negative way where the old people themselves do not feel comfortable accepting and / or pretending their age. For women, due to cultural constructions, aging is a much more perverse process, especially when it comes with retirement and menopause, when it becomes unproductive as a worker and a woman. Given that women live longer, it is necessary to analyze in this work the feminization of old age. In order to reach the proposed objectives, the work category was first approached, although succinctly, and its importance for the social being. Then, the old age was portrayed in its various identities, analyzing the attempts and strategies of homogenization of this stage of life. Another point to be studied was about who can / is able to enjoy this "quality of life" sold in the capitalist consumer market and the responsibility of the subject for the way he grows older. In this perspective, the responses from the State, the social policies to protect the old and the new symbioses of the partnership - public / private - are raised.
