dc.description.abstractEste estudo tem como objetivo analisar de que forma o livro didático de Geografia do 8º ano aborda as africanidades e se essa abordagem está em consonância com os princípios da Lei nº 10.639/2003 e as orientações do Programa Nacional do Livro e do Material Didático (PNLD). Partindo do pressuposto de que os materiais didáticos são instrumentos centrais na construção do imaginário social, a pesquisa problematiza as representações da África e das culturas afro-brasileiras presentes nesses recursos pedagógicos. A metodologia adotada é qualitativa, baseada em análise documental e bibliográfica, com revisão de literatura sobre africanidades, educação antirracista e o papel do livro didático. O referencial teórico apoia-se em autores como Munanga (2019), Gomes (2005) e Silva (2007), além dos documentos legais e normativos que regulamentam a educação das relações étnico-raciais.pt_BR

dc.description.abstractenThis study aims to analyze how the 8th-grade Geography textbook addresses African heritage and whether this approach is in line with the principles of Law No. 10.639/2003 and the guidelines of the National Textbook and Didactic Material Program (PNLD). Based on the premise that didactic materials are central instruments in the construction of the social imaginary, the research problematizes the representations of Africa and Afro-Brazilian cultures present in these pedagogical resources. The methodology adopted is qualitative, based on documentary and bibliographic analysis, with a literature review on African heritage, anti-racist education, and the role of the textbook. The theoretical framework is based on authors such as Munanga (2019), Gomes (2005), and Silva (2007), in addition to the legal and normative documents that regulate education on ethnic-racial relations. The results show that, although the theme is present in textbooks, its approach is often superficial, fragmented, and marked by stereotypes, limited to physical aspects, socioeconomic problems, and the colonial period, without exploring the cultural diversity and historical protagonism of the African continent. It is concluded that there is formal compliance with the legislation, but a significant gap in the epistemological and pedagogical quality necessary for a truly antiracist and pluralistic geographical education. Therefore, it is recommended that the criteria of the PNLD (National Textbook Program) be improved, teacher training be expanded, and materials incorporating Afrocentric and contemporary narratives be produced.pt_BR
