Thus, we structured the work into three chapters: the first chapter addresses how society has been re/producing ways of thinking and acting through social representations. Accordingly, section 2.1 discusses theories of representation and the influence of culture on the production of representations. Section 2.1.1 illustrates everyday life as a sphere for the production of life and the reproduction of representations. Finally, section 2.2 discusses the declining development of capitalism and its relationship with culture in Brazil. The second chapter provides a historical overview of Brazilian soap operas, considering them as a material means of cultural production with significant potential to participate in societal transformations, given their ability to shape individual subjectivities. Meanwhile, the third chapter addresses Brazilian social formation and the position of Black individuals in our society to analyze the role of soap operas in marking and reinforcing the pact of whiteness.pt_BR
